There are a number of resources available for learning more about multi-site. Some are obviously more helpful than others. Below you will find an annotated list of resources (both in print and online) that many leaders from LBC have used in their prayerful consideration of the multi-site approach.
This Word document of the article “The Multi-site Church Planting Strategy” by Tom Cheyney (who serves with the North American Mission Board) is a good summary of much of the philosophy behind the multi-site approach. However, one weakness is that it does not give much attention to the element of “live preaching” which is the direction LBC plans to head with its multi-site ventures.
Surratt, Geoff, Greg Ligon, and Warren Bird. The Multi-site Church Revolution. Grand Rapids, Michigan: Zondervan, 2006.
A well-rounded discussion of the history, logistics and philosophy of the multi-site approach. Each member of LBC’s steering committee was asked to read this book. See these authors discuss their new book:
Senior pastor Mike Lee and executive pastor Dave Patchin of Hope Community Church in Raleigh, NC cast the vision of multi-site in February, 2009. This is done in two parts in a town-hall format. While the particulars of Hope’s vision are obviously different from those of LBC, it helps to see how other churches are approaching this effort.
