Young Artiste Program

Welcome to LBC!  – Ministries – Worship Arts – Young Artiste Program

The Young Artiste Program began at LBC in 2004 in order to encourage youth of all ages to present their musical gifts as an offering before the Lord.

One of the most important ministries for any church is to teach young people about the Word of God and to train them to serve the Lord.  The Worship Arts Ministry also has an obligation to teach and encourage young musicians to serve in order to prepare them for service as adults.

There are many young students at LBC who are studying voice as well as learning to play various instruments.   They may not have enough training and experience to play in the church orchestra; however, it is important that they be given an opportunity to serve.  Students who are currently studying a musical instrument, including voice, and are able to play to some degree of proficiency, will be given opportunities to present their offerings during Sunday morning worship services.  Some will have opportunities to play prelude music, while more accomplished students will have opportunities to play both prelude and offertory music.  Only sacred music of traditional or contemporary style will be permitted.

A level of commitment will be required of any young person interested in this program.  They must be committed to practicing their instrument faithfully in preparation for their special.  It is important to keep in mind that they are presenting their music as an offering before the Lord; therefore, they should give their best.  When a child feels that he or she is ready to play, they will be required to play their piece for the Director of Music prior to being scheduled for a Sunday worship service.
