Homeschool Fellowship

Welcome to LBC!  – Ministries – Children – Homeschool Fellowship
 This ministry exists to provide a Christian atmosphere, collective support, and physical facilities for Leonardtown Baptist Church Members and guests who are homeschooling their children.

The primary objectives of the LBC Homeschool Fellowship include:

1. Provide Christian fellowship for students
2. Provide support and shared resources for parents
3. Provide access to facilities for academic instruction taught from a Christian perspective including subject areas such music and physical education

Homeschool Fellowship Session Plans
1. Participating students are divided into the following categories:
  • Primary (covering Kindergarten through second grade),
  • Intermediate (covering third grade through seventh grade)
  • Pre-K (those children who have siblings participating in the program but are too young to be homeschooled)

2. Typical Session Schedule
  • Opening: The group will open with the pledges to the American Flag, the Christian Flag, and the Bible. Scripture reading and prayer follow.
  • Lunchbox Fellowship
  • Session 1: P.E., Music, or Cooperative Learning
  • Session 2: P.E., Music, or Cooperative Learning

3. The Homeschool Fellowship meets approximately three times per month for co-op classes (music, physical education, or cooperative learning).

4. Parents of students participating in programs are expected to participate in classes and assist with supervision and instruction.

5. All sessions are supervised by members of LBC and follow the "two-person rule" currently in place at LBC.

6. Responsibility for cleanup and reporting maintenance of the building and facilities used during homeschool activities at LBC are given to a homeschool committee member on a monthly basis with final responsibility given to the committee chairman or vice chairman.

7. Final responsibility for academic instruction rest with the parents including choice of curriculum, oversight of progress, records of academic progress, and reporting to appropriate county board of education.
