We have A WHOLE LOT of great stuff going on in Awana! We'll be sending some fliers home this week that will talk
about some of the upcoming events.
Also, I'll be holding a parents' meeting in the CLC
immediately following our Opening Ceremony. Please plan to stick around
for a brief update on what we have planned. I'm excited about what the
Lord has already been doing in our midst and I eagerly anticipate
watching the power of the Holy Spirit work through His Holy Word in your
families!
Here's a quick snapshot of what's up in Awana:
Great Shake-Up,
a focus on reaching un-churched friends and neighbors for Christ
through Awana, begins this week. Parents will be invited to participate
in part of Awana in 2 weeks as a part of Great-Shake-Up (10/24). More
about that soon...
Awana Sunday will be next Sunday, Oct 17. We are asking all
clubbers and leaders to wear their uniforms to church services. Some
clubbers will have an opportunity to participate in the conduct of the
service as greeters and assistant ushers.
Also on the 17th will be Basic Training for our Leaders In Training (Teens) (and adult leaders who still need Basic Training) from 12:30 - 3:30 in the MPR. Our first Awana Store will be held on the 17th as well.
Fall Festival will be co-hosted by Awana this year (in
coordination with the Hands Puppet Mininstry and the Missions Evangelism
Team). This will the culmination of our Great-Shake-Up preparations.
Club will start at 4 and will conclude by 5:30, at which time the games
will open like our usual Fall Festival. Please plan to stick around for
the entire club night. We'll have a fellowship event for parents as
well. Looking for help to set up and run games! Let me know...
Awana Race Night (Float-a-Boat & Grand Prix) will be held Nov 12. Kits will be available for sale this week. More to come on that soon...
** Scripture Memorization Tip for Non-Readers: Use an old sock or a small
paper bag, glue some "eyes" and a "nose" on it to make a simple puppet, and use it
to say the verse with your kids. (Might even help for your visual-learning-type readers!)
Grace and Peace,
-Scott
